Description Our Commissary Prep Cook functions as a part of the commissary production team. This position is responsible for preparing, assembling, and packaging food items while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. They will also focus on daily cleaning tasks and upkeep of the commissary space. Essential Job Functions Assemble and package food products according to commissary guidelines Ability to follow instructions involving food preparation and recipe recreation Help maintain a clean and safe work environment to comply with sanitation, ServSafe, and safety requirements Perform dishwashing duties to ensure clean and sanitized kitchen tools are available for use Ability to understand and meet standards for health, safety, and food policy Adhere to the details of the operation, including all operating standards, food standards, service standards, and policies and procedures as outlined in the company handbook Abide by sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen areas Other duties and tasks assigned by manager Requirements Previous cook or kitchen experience preferred but not required Basic culinary skills preferred Skills/Qualifications Excellent verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent time management skills Able to take direction with a willingness to learn Must possess a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement with a hands-on, cooperative approach in a team environment Strong organizational skills and accountability in completing all tasks in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner Working Conditions & Physical Demands Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds frequently Able to squat, bend, stoop, push, and reach frequently Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods frequently Mix of standard manufacturing and kitchen environments
