THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an MV/HV Commissioning Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution Power Division in Ireland. The principal purpose of this role is to verify that the primary, secondary, protection and control equipment meets the specification requirements and is in a fit state to be energised and connected to the ESB Grid. This role requires an individual comfortable in a fast-paced project environment, as well as possessing excellent problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Electrical trade or engineering qualification.
  • 3+ years experience in commissioning roles (or similar)
  • Knowledge of commissioning standards, principles and procedures for Transmission and Distribution systems and equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of HV Substation design and processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills
  • Ability to motivate and encourage others whilst taking the lead.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, plan, and deliver commissioning projects.
  • Commission HV and MV equipment in line with the Commissioning Policy, specifications and the relevant Commissioning Standard.
  • Commission control and protection equipment in line with the Commissioning Policy, specifications and the relevant Commissioning Standard.
  • Assessment of site safety prior to engaging in commissioning activities and coordinate the work schedule with site staff as appropriate. Liaise with the SHEQ Manager (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) on all project SHEQ matters.
  • Complete functional verification of protection scheme designs and confirm compliance with approved design standards, elementaries, specifications and the relevant Commissioning Standard.
  • Contribute to fault investigations and reporting.
