Responsibilities

Due to our continued growth/success, we are looking for an experienced and highly capable Commissioning Engineer to lead and manage commissioning activities on-site for utility-scale solar and hybrid power plants. This is a full-time, site-based role on a 2/1 roster in the electrical engineering field, working on renewable energy EPC projects (Solar PV & BESS) at various sites across Australia, and requires a minimum of 10 years’ of experience.

  • Lead the commissioning of solar PV and BESS systems on large-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Oversee and execute the testing, energisation and operational handover of HV/LV electrical systems and plant components.
  • Prepare and review commissioning plans test procedures (including switching and isolation), and reports in accordance with project specifications and Australian standards.
  • Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and issuing of verify Isolation Permits and Access Permits.
  • Coordinate with construction, engineering, and operations teams to ensure seamless commissioning workflows.
  • Operate and test HV switchboards, RMUs, and protection systems, ensuring safe and correct operation.
  • Lead functional testing and commissioning of inverter stations (PV & BESS), transformers, SCADA, protection relays and communication systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, statutory regulations, and quality standards during commissioning activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve site-level technical and operational issues during the commissioning phase.
  • Mentor and support junior commissioning staff and technicians as required.
