This role supports the Cx Project Manager and commissioning team in delivering validated, operationally ready systems through rigorous testing, real-time coordination, and detailed field documentation.
The Cx Field Engineer plays a critical part in the late-stage project lifecycle—troubleshooting systems, validating performance against sequences of operation, witnessing vendor tests, and supporting multi-system integration scenarios. This position ensures that mechanical, electrical, controls, and life safety systems function safely and reliably under both normal and failure conditions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
  • 3+ years of commissioning, controls, or MEP field experience on commercial or mission-critical projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC and/or electrical distribution systems and how they operate under live conditions.
  • Experience executing system testing based on sequences of operation and commissioning scripts.
  • Proficient in reading one-line diagrams, control schematics, equipment submittals, and system interlock logic

TECHNICAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience in data center, hospital, cleanroom, or high-availability environments.
  • Familiarity with commissioning software tools such as CxAlloy, Facility Grid, or similar.
  • OSHA 30 certification and awareness of lockout/tagout and energization protocols.
  • Certifications such as LEED Green Associate, CxT (Technician), or equivalent are a plus
  • Field-based functional and integrated testing expertise
  • Mechanical/electrical/control systems troubleshooting
  • Test script execution and real-time coordination
  • Systems integration and performance observation
  • Accurate documentation and deviation tracking
  • Strong communication and teamwork under high-pressure testing windows

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 100% field-based role in active construction and commissioning environments.
  • Extended hours, night shifts, and weekend work may be required during testing events.
  • Travel to remote job sites depending on project location and phase.
  • Work may involve mechanical rooms, rooftops, data halls, utility yards, and confined spaces
