Job Description An 80-year group, COBRA promotes its own efficient business model, the result of the combination of decentralization, geographical diversification and technical specialization of more than 20,000 professionals in more than 43 countries. Cobra is divided into four main sectors of activity, Networks, Specialised installations, integrated projects and concession assets. ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project. The Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission Project will build new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity. The project consists of 90km of 500kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330kV transmission lines for generator connections, stretching from Elong Elong in the west through to Barigan Creek in the east, via an energy hub at Merotherie. This role will be managing the Project’s Commissioning activities, both through direct personnel and specialist subcontractors. This is a senior role and will report to one of the Directors. Managing and leading project staff in all commissioning of substations, transmission lines, ancillary support buildings and all the new power technologies the Commissioning Manager will support the Construction Managers and Project Directors in ensuring the works are carried out in accordance with the Project Deed, Safety, agreed time, cost, quality and scope requirement. The role requires a person with experience in the commissioning of projects of a similar character, size and complexity to the ACJV – Central West Orana Renewable Energy project. Key Responsibilities Demonstrated experience in delivering health, safety, quality and environmental objectives Assure all systems and components are designed, installed, tested and operated according to the operational requirements Ensure project testing and commissioning activities meet or better project WHS Targets Be leader and project champion of a safe workplace Ensure all suite activities and those of employees and subcontractors are carried out in accordance with National, State and Company Safety Policies and Procedures Liaise with and provide construction input to Environmental Team Ensure testing and commissioning activities and outcomes meet quality specifications Ensure testing and commissioning activities meet budget requirements by driving cost focus and adherence to cost control systems through project management Provide input to commercial team as to appropriate service providers Advise Commercial Manager of any potential claims so appropriate notices can be developed, and records kept Provide effective management and leadership of the commissioning site and commissioning site team to meet contractual requirements Provide technical planning, design support and reporting for all aspects of the project works commissioning Required Skills and Competencies Demonstrated relevant experience in the commissioning of large scale complex projects Tertiary Qualification relevant to the role Experience in providing effective hand back documentation Experienced within an Electrical construction-based project, including the commissioning of substations and Transmission lines Proven leadership in delivering health, safety, quality and environmental objectives Demonstrated ability to motivate/manage multi-disciplinary teams Strong communication and sound negotiation skills Sound legal, commercial and risk management knowledge Commissioning Manager positions start in our project office in Sydney CBD, with occasional site visits.
