Job Title: Commissioning Project Leader – Ships – Mechanical
Location: Barrow-in-Furness. This role will be full time on site
Salary: Competitive

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

Essential

  • Degree/HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of Ships systems and other associated systems and their testing and commissioning
  • Understanding of overall submarine systems and their operation
  • Experience leading a team
  • Competent with IT systems and software (Microsoft products)
  • Working knowledge of the Engineering Lifecycle

Desirable

  • Experience with SAP and Teamcenter
  • Maritime background would be preferable
  • CMI Level 5 or equivalent leadership experience
  • Specialist engineering knowledge and experience in subject area
  • Knowledge and experience of Submarine Ships Systems and equipment – Tanks, Refrigeration, HVAC, Hydraulics, High Pressure Air, Trim & Ballast Systems, etc
Responsibilities
  • Acting as Ships mechanical subject matter expert for test and commissioning
  • Assisting in creating the test and commissioning plan
  • Providing SQEP input into design decisions
  • Assisting in identifying and developing the use of toolsets and software
  • Leading by example in all aspects of safety and process compliance
  • Responsible for the development and leadership of a team of mechanical Engineers
  • Review, authorise and evaluate test documentation to enable safe delivery of a testing / commissioning programme and support contractual acceptance
  • Deputise for the Commissioning Manager in their absence and act as temporary lead, covering all section meetings
  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders to ensure safe control of work, collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders including operations and engineering
  • Task allocation, delegation and distribution of daily tasks
