We do this by empowering our employees to do their best work, find meaning in what they do and provide opportunities to grow. As an independent consulting firm with over 450 employees, we create innovative and sustainable solutions for our clients’ most complex challenges. Our passion is solving problems, innovation is our culture, sustainability is in our DNA, and we thrive on our clients’ success.   MAKE AN IMPACT THAT MATTERS We’re looking for a detail-oriented and solutions-focused Commissioning Specialist - Electrical, to join our Science and Technology Division and play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of complex, high-performance facilities. In this role, you’ll help bring new and upgraded buildings to life—verifying that electrical systems are installed, tested, and functioning exactly as intended before they’re put into operation. You’ll manage and deliver commissioning projects of varying size and complexity in both new construction and existing facilities, with a focus on science, technology, healthcare, and other highly specialized environments. Acting as the bridge between design and operation, you’ll verify installations against design intent and contract documents, witness functional and integrated systems testing, and ensure deficiencies are identified, tracked, and resolved. Your work will include collaborating closely with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and facilities teams to confirm the safe and optimal performance of electrical systems. You’ll prepare commissioning plans, schedules, and test scripts, review technical documentation, and produce clear, concise reports for both internal teams and external project stakeholders. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge of electrical systems—such as power distribution, emergency power, life safety, and building automation—who thrives in a client-facing role, enjoys problem-solving on site, and can apply a rigorous, methodical approach to quality assurance. Your expertise, attention to detail, and relationship-building skills will be key to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient building systems that meet the highest performance standards. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Manages commissioning projects, as directed, of different types, size and complexity in new construction and existing buildings. * Project manages and delivers commissioning services in a professional and efficient manner. * Attends project and equipment manufacturer sites to verify that installations function per design intent and contract documents. Witnesses commissioning functional tests. May require use of PPE and knowledge of safety requirements and protocols. * Works collaboratively with consultants of all disciplines to survey sites and verify condition and safe operation of equipment systems. * Maintains effective relationships accordingly. Works closely with clients, vendors, facilities/operations staff and owners to understand design intent of equipment and systems. * Prepares clear and concise documents and reports all commissioning progress updates and outcomes for the appropriate internal department(s) and for external project teams. * Conducts formal reviews of various documentation such as contractors work plans, factory witness test reports, vendor equipment start-up documentation, completed pre-functional test scripts, contractor/owner generated method of procedure documents and contractor responses to identified deficiencies. * Reviews contract drawings and specifications in order to prepare commissioning plan, commissioning schedule and pre-functional, functional and integrated system test scripts associated with equipment and systems on projects. * Identifies and tracks deficiencies encountered in all stages of the commissioning process and manages deficiency close out. * Supports facility start up, training and demonstration, acceptance, handover and transitions to post occupancy/warranty phase. * Ensures that all systems are installed, tested, and functioning correctly before they are put into operation. * Applies technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, building envelope, facilities operations, and building management. Uses this knowledge to troubleshoot equipment and system issues as they arise. * Understands and interprets commissioning scripts and commissioning documentation to be used during site visits. * Participates in internal/external commissioning coordination meetings, as required. * Other duties as assigned. WHAT YOU’LL BRING * Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical commissioning, preferably in complex facilities such as healthcare, laboratories, or other science and technology environments. * Diploma or degree from a recognized technical college or university in electrical engineering or a related discipline. * Proven ability to manage commissioning projects, with strong organizational, reporting, and presentation skills. * Solid understanding of electrical systems and experience working in the engineering or construction field. * Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and commissioning best practices. * Proficiency with database tools and systems for tracking, documenting, and reporting commissioning activities. * Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet project schedules without compromising quality. * Accountable, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality, detail-oriented work. * Professional commissioning certifications such as BCxP or CCP (in good standing) are considered a strong asset.   WHY HH ANGUS * Hybrid and flexible work options. * Defined career path and mentorship support. * Meaningful projects with real-world impact. * Comprehensive benefits, wellness programs, and professional development. * Inclusive, collaborative culture where your voice matters.
