JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Commissioning & Start-Up Specialist III with expertise in one or more technical disciplines (Rotating Machinery, Electrical, Process, Instrumentation, or Document Control Services) to support field execution of start-up activities in Sabine Pass, TX. This role requires strong technical skills, leadership, and collaboration across project teams to ensure safe, high-quality, and timely start-up and early operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ year’s experience in a Client, PetroChem, Downstream operational Start-up or Commissioning role in the field
  • 5+ year’s expeience in Utilities, downstream olefins, Petrochemical or Client Export Project experience during start-up phase
  • Must have familiarity with Project Completions activities and Systems Completion Database software (e.g., WinPCS, MC+, CoConsole, Orbit).
  • Must have knowledge of first-time introduction of hydrocarbons into a facility and key safety issues related to this role
  • Certification(s) or equivalent professional experience in relevant discipline.
  • Proficiency in Work Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly describe field conditions and recommend solutions.
  • Effective team collaboration, even without direct authority.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and shifting priorities.
    Work Schedule: 6 days on/1 day off (Schedule subject to change as needed during commissioning and start-up phases)
Responsibilities

TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to Level 1 and 2 responsibilities, the Level 3 Specialist will:

  • Provide input and support for the development and execution of Performance Testing procedures.
  • Align commissioning and start-up schedules with Operations and Project Planning teams.
  • Interface with specialists (ETC, vendors, labs) to resolve start-up issues.
  • Participate in system walkdowns and punch list generation.
  • Lead troubleshooting during start-up and early operations.
  • Monitor facility performance and testing activities post start-up.
  • Perform P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) identification and verification to ensure system readiness.
  • Initiate system start-up (PIN ID / push the button) by executing procedures, energizing equipment, and monitoring system response.
  • Prevent and troubleshoot pressure-related or operational conflicts ( “oppression collisions “) during start-up, ensuring safe and coordinated system activation.
  • During commissioning phase, lead to execute dynamic commissioning of system / facilities in the field with non-Hydrocarbon fluid coordinating with Commissioning Contractors & Vendors as necessary
  • During start-up phase, responsible to execute startup of system / facilities in the field with Hydrocarbon fluid with Vendors as necessary

  • Collaboration with the Project Team, Affiliate Operations, and Contractor to ensure requirements for start-up activities and continuous operations are clearly understood and adhered to.
  • Detailed knowledge of operating facilities and applicable processes to put in place to manage risk
  • Leadership to ensure project priorities of safety, quality, and schedule are achieved
