POSITION SUMMARY

The Commodities Buyer is responsible for placing purchase orders, managing suppliers, providing shop support and inventory control.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in a business field is preferred.
• 5 years of purchasing experience is required.
• A background working in the aerospace manufacturing industry is strongly preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Create and manage purchase orders for all goods and services.
• Oversee supplier management, including delivery commitments, shipment issues and compliance to customer specifications.
• Evaluate suppliers by considering price, quality, availability and other criteria.
• Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best value on behalf of the company.
• Responsible for MRP planning and inventory control.
• Being cross-trained in various areas of the Supply Chain business unit.
• Authorize payments and maintain receipts, records and inventories.
• Maintain appropriate tact and diplomacy in dealings with co-workers, team members and managers.
