Description

In Morocco, UN Women’s mission is to support accelerated progress toward gender equality and the promotion of women’s rights. UN Women supports national institutions, the government, and civil society in implementing programs aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering women. True to its triple mandate – normative, programmatic, and coordination within the United Nations system – UN Women supports national actors in three main areas of intervention: 1. Gender-Responsive Public Governance and Women’s Political Participation (WPP) 2. Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) and Access to Decent and Stable Income 3. Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG). Within the third area of intervention, the “Ensuring Quality, Coordinated, and Accessible Multisectoral Services for Survivors of Violence and at Risk Women and Girls – Aamina” project aims to strengthen women’s rights and institutional services for survivors of violence, raise awareness among women, girls, men, and boys about the rights and services available to women survivors of violence, and promote social norms that support gender equality. The awareness-raising efforts of the project are supported by communication and advocacy activities, namely through global campaigns such as the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and International Women’s Rights Day (IWD) commemoration. The UN Women Morocco Country Office is looking for a communication and EVAWG advocacy intern for a 6-month period to support the office in advocating for gender equality and in the fight against violence against women and girls. Description of Responsibilities Under the supervision of the EVAWG Programme Analyst ( coordinator of AAMINA project), the intern will provide support to the office in advocating for gender equality and in the fight against violence against women and girls, including through: : * Support the organization and preparation of meetings and events planned by the country office * Contribute to enhancing the visibility of UN Women’s events, campaigns and key activities including drafting articles, taking pictures suggesting social media posts and quotes, etc.) * Support the drafting of terms of references for the selection of communication service providers or suppliers (communication agencies, printing services, etc.) * Follow up on the timely delivery and quality of communication-related deliverables of service providers * Draft meeting minutes and contribute to the preparation of synthesize reports and presentations * Translate communication and advocacy materials (concept notes, press releases, social media posts, infographics, etc.) from French into Arabic and English. * Support the development of programme communication materials including project brochures * Adapt visuals and social media publications using existing templates and guidance * Document good practices, lessons learnt and human-centered stories related to UN Women Morocco’s EVAWG work, particularly during the 16 days of activism activities * Support the collection and consolidation of programme results for reporting purposes. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); 2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); 3. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a two-year period of graduation; or 4. Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements. Language: * Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in French, Arabic, and English are required. Computer skills: * Good knowledge of Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as Canva, or InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) Renumeration: Interns who are not in receipt of financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UN Women to partially subsidize their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.
