Description Organization: SBCS (Formerly known as South Bay Community Services) Location: In-person, Chula Vista, CA 91910 Length: At least 3 months commitment Hours and Days: Minimum of 4 hours per week, at least 3 days a week, Monday - Friday between 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Compensation: Unpaid Reports to: Marketing and Content Specialist About the Organization SBCS (formerly South Bay Community Services) transforms communities to support the well-being and prosperity of children, youth, and families. For more than 50 years, we’ve worked throughout San Diego to provide safe shelter, transitional housing, intervention prevention programs, mental health support, and many other services that meet the ever-changing needs of our communities. Volunteer Position Overview: The Communication Social Media Volunteer will support SBCS’s outreach and engagement efforts by assisting with content creation, social media management, and general communications. The ideal candidate must have experience in social media campaigns, graphic design skills, and experience creating collateral flyers. This role also requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and must have the ability to maintain professionalism. Some projects may be conducted off-site and may include client interviews and filming, so experience in those areas is a plus. The candidate must demonstrate friendly demeanor, have the desire to serve others, and enjoy working as part of a team and interacting with the community. This is ideal for candidates interested in marketing, communications, and social media management who want hands-on experience in a mission-driven organization. Key Responsibilities: Assist in creating content for social media platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn Create collateral flyers, business cards, brochures, etc., with the use of basic graphic design applications. Support social media campaigns as needed. Perform other communication-related tasks as assigned by Marketing and Content Specialist Requirements Must have a Valid ID Must pass a background check Must be over 18 years of age Must be familiar with major social media platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn At least 1 year experience with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and/or Adobe Lightroom Experience in filming (Preferred but not required) Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Additional requirements: This role requires clearances such as completing a fingerprint live scan (background check) and a TB-test as part of the onboarding process. Responsibilities
