SUMMARY OF POSITION

Position supports strategic communication and marketing efforts of the MCA and its departments with a primary focus on stakeholder engagement, membership acquisition and driving marketing and advertising through social media, email marketing and web-based communications.
This position plays a key role in executing MCA’s strategic communications goals and will primarily be responsible for external communications and marketing initiatives targeting both internal and external audiences.
This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in copywriting, editing, and content creation.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and analytics (Google Analytics, social media insights).
  • Knowledge of the Marine Corps is preferred but not required.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Salesforce (Nimble) and Klaviyo.
  • Basic knowledge of design tools such as Adobe InDesign and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with photo and video editing software

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Apple and PC) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
  • Photo and video editing software experience is desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Content Development & Strategy: Create and develop engaging content for MCA’s website, social media, newsletters, infographics, and press releases and assist in developing and implementing a communication strategy that also includes media outreach.
  • Social media & Audience Engagement: Plan and execute a comprehensive social media strategy in alignment with MCA’s strategic objectives. Manage the creation, scheduling, and publication of timely and engaging social media content. Respond to follower inquiries, monitor non-MCA platforms for relevant conversations, and engage in key discussions.
  • Campaign Management & Evaluation: Assist in the creation and execution of marketing campaigns for MCA’s various departments (events, membership, retail, publications). Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communication campaigns, recommending strategies to improve messaging and brand visibility.
  • Email Marketing & Copywriting: Manage email marketing initiatives, including the creation, coordination, and execution of campaigns. Collaborate with other departments to produce copies for advertisements, articles, and other promotional materials.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media and email campaigns. Analyze social media, email, and website analytics and provide monthly reports on progress toward marketing and communication goals.
  • Content Editing & Proofreading: Edit and proofread marketing and communication materials to ensure consistency and accuracy across all platforms.
  • External Collaboration: Liaise with external organizations in order to share and post content relevant to MCA.
  • Web Support: Provide assistance to the webmaster in creating and maintaining landing pages for department-specific needs.

Additional Duties

  • Assist in the development of multimedia content, including podcasts, videos, and audio projects.
  • Support graphic design efforts as needed, including the development of marketing materials.
  • Stay informed on the latest trends in digital marketing, e-commerce, and nonprofit fundraising.
  • Assist in event set ups and support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested by Vice President of Membership, Marketing & Support.
