Job Description:   We are looking for the next skilled, creative, and organized Communication Strategist/Industrial Designer and Project Coordinator who can design, coordinate, and manage exhibit and event projects alongside the broader Exhibits and Property team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.    We need someone to ideate, visualize and model events and exhibits with accuracy, keeping the NASA mission and client vision in mind. This candidate will require an eye for methodical detail who will visualize and pitch, manage projects, conduct design reviews, analyze job environments, and provide superior client relations who also has the mechanical know-how to provide guidance on building methods and materials, track and organize projects, and provide new concept design. This position will also require the added excitement of setting up events, handling and maintaining NASA property and artifacts, and operating heavy machinery.   Job Responsibilities: * Project Leadership: Plan, direct, and oversee complex fabrication activities and installations. Collaborate with the NASA External Relations Office and NCS * Client and Team Interaction: Engage with clients, managers, and team leads to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, and maintain quality and safety standards. Facilitate regular communication to keep all stakeholders informed and aligned. * Exhibit Fabrication and Event Coordination: Lead external vendors and internal fabrication teams in scheduling and executing exhibit fabrication and event coordination. Understand and manage the order of operations to ensure efficient and timely project completion. * Property and Artifact Management: Assist with artifact management and ensure strict adherence to property procedures. * Safety and Quality Control: Oversee safety and quality standards during installations, ensuring compliance with NASA guidelines and best practices. * Hands-On Installation: Participate in the physical setup of events and installations, including hauling heavy objects and operating machinery such as forklifts and box trucks. * Administrative Duties: Execute various administrative tasks including writing formal Request for Quote documents, reporting, procurement planning, metric tracking, and property management. * Reports to the JSC Exhibits Supervisor and NCS Exhibits Service Line Manager Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in industrial design or a related field is preferred from an accredited college or university * Five (5) years of professional experience in industrial design, project management, or a related field * Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Solidworks, Keyshot Pro, and Adobe Creative Cloud. Experience with Agile project management is desirable. * Soft Skills: Strong team orientation, collaborative spirit, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to lead projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and manage multiple tasks effectively * Physical Requirements: Willingness to engage in hands-on tasks, including heavy lifting and operating heavy machinery. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or less. * Preferred Experience: Prior experience working with NASA or in a government agency environment. * Flexibility to travel and work nights, holidays and weekends   Physical Requirements The physical demands described herein are representative of those which may need to be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
