REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing
  • Minimum of five 5 years’ experience in a communications and engagement role.
  • Certification with the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2), or willingness to obtain independently.
  • Current Class ‘C’ Driver’s Licence (desirable).
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing communication and engagement strategies for large or complex projects.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and presentation skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with experience engaging stakeholders at all levels.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned to the project’s objectives and key milestones.
  • Lead community engagement activities, including public consultation and issues resolution, ensuring proactive and responsive communication with local stakeholders.
  • Prepare high-quality content for a range of platforms including media releases, newsletters, social media, and internal updates.
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and government partners to ensure accurate and timely communication of project developments.
  • Prepare speeches, briefing notes, and presentations for senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Monitor media coverage, public sentiment, and industry trends to guide communications strategy.
  • Provide expert communications and engagement advice to senior executives.
  • Manage risk and support issues and crisis communication to protect the reputation of the project and broader organisation.
  • Mentor communications professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Report on the effectiveness of communication and engagement activities and recommend areas for improvement.
