Position Purpose: The Communications & Marketing Manager supports the mission, values, and strategic goals of San Marcos Academy by leading comprehensive communication, marketing, and storytelling efforts across all departments. Working closely with the VP of Advancement and collaborating with Admissions, Athletics, Fine Arts, Academics, and Residential Life, this role strengthens the Academy’s visibility, brand integrity, and community engagement while promoting student achievement, school initiatives, and donor impact. The Communications and Marketing Manager is a 12-month, full-time position based on our beautiful campus. Essential Job Functions: Strategic Communications & Brand Management Implement comprehensive communications and marketing strategies Ensure consistent application of SMA branding Content Strategy, Storytelling & Editorial Oversight Plan and manage a year-round communications calendar. Create and manage engaging written content. Oversee all school-wide email communications Digital Marketing, Social Media & Web Management Manage SMA’s social media presence, school website, and digital marketing campaigns Creative Development, Photography & Videography Design compelling graphics, newsletters, brochures, viewbooks, rack cards, signage, and promotional collateral Develop and oversee a comprehensive digital asset library of photos, videos, logos, and templates. Media Relations & Community Engagement Cultivate relationships with local media outlets; manage press inquiries, releases, and coverage. Represent SMA as needed at community events. Cross-Departmental Marketing Collaborate with Admissions to execute recruitment and enrollment marketing strategies Work with the Advancement team to create collateral supporting fundraising efforts and alumni relations. Event Support Create and execute marketing plans for major school events Produce materials for use prior to, during, and after events, including but not limited to scripts, signage, brochures, and programs Coordinate event photography, livestreaming, and post-event storytelling/recap content. Analytics, Reporting & Compliance Prepare regular reports on social media performance, website analytics, email metrics, and campaign ROI. Ensure communication practices adhere to privacy and data-protection standards Team Leadership & Collaboration Supervise communications interns or student media teams, guiding writing, photography, video, and digital literacy. Compensation: Commensurate with experience Requirements Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field Three years of experience or more in marketing, social media management, and public relations Ability to work in a team setting Proficient skills in design software (Canva, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), word processing, and spreadsheet/database management Strong communication, public relations, organizational, public speaking, and interpersonal skills Exceptional relationship-building both within an organization and in the community Experience with event fundraising, planning and execution Strong commitment to the mission of Christian education and the values of San Marcos Academy
