Description
Job Introduction 🚀 Join the Mission: Communications & Network Systems Engineer at EUMETSAT (via Serco) At Serco, we don’t just fill roles, we connect people with purpose. Right now, we’re looking for a Communications and Network Systems Engineer to join our team, working on-site with our prestigious customer, EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites. This isn’t just another engineering job. It’s a chance to be part of a mission that helps monitor our planet, protect lives, and support decision-making on climate and weather. You’ll be at the heart of Europe’s space-based meteorological infrastructure, helping to ensure the seamless operation of critical satellite ground systems. Key Responsibilities What you'll be doing You’ll play a key role in designing, deploying, and maintaining secure, high-performance network and communication systems across EUMETSAT’s headquarters and remote sites — from Germany to Svalbard and beyond. Your work will directly support current and future satellite programmes, ensuring data flows securely and reliably across continents. Your work will include: Leading the design and deployment of enterprise VPN and ZTNA solutions (e.g., Cisco AnyConnect, Palo Alto GlobalProtect). Managing DDI services (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) using tools like BIND or BlueCat Integrity. Integrating Cisco ISE, RADIUS/TACACS+, and enterprise authentication systems (e.g., SAML, Kerberos, Entra ID, Active Directory). Building and maintaining custom monitoring solutions using SolarWinds, NetBrain, SNMP, Syslog, and NetFlow. Developing and integrating monitoring dashboards using SQL and scripting. Supporting enterprise Wi-Fi and 802.1X infrastructure. Automating operations with Python, Ansible, and PowerShell. Administering Linux systems and applying NetDevOps practices. Managing PKI, X.509 certificates, and certificate lifecycle processes. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and documenting solutions for knowledge sharing. Skills What you will bring You’re not just technically skilled, you’re curious, collaborative, and driven by purpose. You have: Extensive experience with DDI solutions (e.g., BIND, BlueCat). Deep knowledge of Cisco ISE, RADIUS/TACACS+, and enterprise authentication. Proven ability to build and manage network monitoring systems. Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Ansible, PowerShell). Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network security. Experience with VPN, ZTNA, and Wi-Fi/802.1X technologies. Strong Linux administration and NetDevOps capabilities. Familiarity with PKI and certificate management. Why this role matters EUMETSAT’s mission supports weather forecasting, climate monitoring, and environmental protection across Europe and beyond. Your work will help ensure the resilience and performance of the networks that carry this vital data from satellite to screen. On Offer Relocation allowance: including a one-way flight ticket, transportation from the airport to a temporary hotel, and one month of paid accommodation while securing permanent housing. Hybrid working model. 30% subvention on Deutschland ticket. Gym membership discount. Private pension scheme. Corporate Benefits discounts. 30 days of holiday.
