  • Experience in communications, marketing, PR, digital media, or related fields.
  • Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills.
  • Confidence in leading meetings and assigning tasks.
  • Ability to use basic digital tools (Google Drive, Canva, Zoom, Trello, Instagram, etc.).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Commitment to YBIB’s values of youth empowerment, professionalism, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We’re seeking a Communications Committee Chair to lead YBIB’s communications strategy and guide our passionate youth in sharing our message, increasing community engagement, and promoting youth-driven initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage the Communications Committee and coordinate monthly meetings.
  • Create or guide youth in building communications campaigns (social media, press releases, membership newsletters).
  • Develop strategic messaging aligned with YBIB’s mission and programs.
  • Mentor youth and committee members interested in media and communication.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board to ensure alignment.
  • Guide PR outreach and represent YBIB at relevant events or media opportunities.
  • Complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (cost reimbursed up to $40).
