Plug’n Drive is a not-for-profit organization accelerating electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Canada to maximize the environmental and economic benefits of an electrified transportation sector. Our vision is to help Canada achieve its goal of 100% electric vehicle sales by 2035 or earlier. Since 2011, we have made incredible strides in our mission through a variety of consumer education programs, including the launch of the world’s first Electric Vehicle Discovery Centre (EVDC) in Toronto, the Electric Vehicle Roadshow event series as well as the Mobile EV Education Trailer (MEET). QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related program.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing trends.
  • Experience with content creation, graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite), or video editing is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive in problem-solving.
  • Passionate about storytelling, branding, and engagement strategies.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Communications Advisor, the Communications Coordinator Intern will play a pivotal role in supporting Plug’n Drive’s communications initiatives, particularly our EVs are for Everyone Cross-Canada Tour.
This exciting opportunity offers hands-on experience in content creation, social media strategy, public relations, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on promoting the Tour’s mission to bring EV education and awareness to communities across the country.
The intern will assist with executing strategies that align with Plug’n Drive’s mission while gaining valuable insights into the clean energy and transportation sectors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Content Creation: Develop engaging written and visual content for various platforms, including social media, blogs, newsletters, and press materials, to promote the EVs are for Everyone Cross-Country Tour.
  • Social Media Strategy: Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns, including scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance metrics.
  • Public Relations: Support the development of media materials such as press releases, media kits, and event briefs. Monitor media coverage and maintain a database of media contacts.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Help coordinate communications with local community groups, tour sponsors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless event planning and execution.
  • Event Support: Collaborate with the team to plan and execute events during the cross-country tour, including logistical support and on-site communication.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on trends in clean energy and transportation, identifying new opportunities to enhance Plug’n Drive’s messaging and outreach efforts.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with tracking communications activities, updating project timelines, and maintaining organized files and documentation.
