As the Communications & Engagement Officer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility of Professional Education at King’s. Your responsibilities will include managing our digital presence, creating compelling content, and driving strategic engagement initiatives. About the role
King’s Professional & Executive Development (KPED) is a vital part of King’s College London, delivering innovative and impactful professional education programmes that address real-world challenges. Working closely with faculties across the university and external stakeholders, KPED offers a range of services, including Executive Education, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and Educational Consultancy. Our mission is to empower individuals and organisations with the skills and knowledge needed to stay at the forefront of their respective sectors.
As the Communications & Engagement Officer, you will play a central role in enhancing the visibility of Professional Education at King’s. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, Social Impact & Engagement, and working in close collaboration with the Head of Portfolio Marketing, Professional Education, you will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging content across multiple channels to promote King’s professional education offerings. Your work will include managing digital platforms, producing compelling communications materials, and planning and executing impactful engagement initiatives.
This role requires a dynamic individual with a passion for storytelling, strong writing and editing skills, and experience in social media management and event planning. You will proactively identify opportunities to publicise King’s achievements, crafting content for newsletters, press releases, and digital platforms, while ensuring alignment with the university’s strategic objectives. You will also work with internal and external stakeholders to support the growth and impact of Professional Education at King’s, helping to build strong relationships with partners, alumni, and prospective clients.
In addition to content creation, you will contribute to the planning and execution of key events such as webinars, workshops, and networking sessions, ensuring that Professional Education at King’s remains a visible and influential presence within the sector. Your role will also involve gathering insights through market research and data analysis to support the strategic direction of professional education initiatives.
Based at King’s Strand Campus, the role offers flexible working arrangements, with the opportunity to travel to events and collaborate across different faculties and external partners. About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience of relevant communications qualification
  • Excellent communications skills, including experience of writing succinct and accessible copy for a range of audiences, editing and proofreading news releases, blogs and website content.
  • Experience managing social media channels and creating engaging content
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, use initiative and make decisions within team setting
  • Experience planning, promoting, and supporting events (in-person and virtual)
  • Experience of delivering communications plans working with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience producing and managing podcasts or webinars
  • Experience with graphic design and video production tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro) and platforms such as Eventbrite and Zoom

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in the higher education sector/ Professional Education and/or B2B environment, membership organisation or a think tank/policy setting
  • Interest in Professional Education activities within a Higher Education or think tank/policy setting
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with stakeholders and partners
  • Experience and skills in creating and managing web content within a content management system and/or use of HTML
  • Self-motivated, results oriented and with a “can do attitude”
