Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE CHALLENGED TO DO:

As a Junior Communications Designer/Engineer, you will support the planning, design, and implementation of advanced communications systems across all phases of transportation and transit infrastructure projects. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop detailed engineering packages and ensure integrated, reliable, and code-compliant system design.

IN THIS CAPACITY, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • Assist in developing communications systems design packages, including:Fiber optic and copper backbone infrastructure, Passenger Information Systems (PIS), Public Address (PA) systems, CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection systems, Radio systems (VHF/UHF/LTE/5G), SCADA and network infrastructure.

  • Create and revise detailed design drawings using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation in compliance with project and client standards.

  • Prepare technical documentation including specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and construction packages.
  • Participate in site visits and field surveys to validate designs and assess existing infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as civil, electrical, architectural, and systems engineering teams.
  • Support senior engineers with project execution tasks such as submittal reviews, QA/QC, and documentation.
  • Engage with contractors and equipment vendors during design and construction phases.
