Why we are hiring Amref Health Africa is implementing projects across South Sudan and the need for effective communication has grown to ensure greater visibility, stakeholder engagement, and awareness of key issues. Job Purpose Amref Health Africa is seeking a dynamic Communications Intern to support the Communications Officer in strengthening the organization's visibility, stakeholder engagement, and brand positioning in South Sudan. The intern will play a key role in content development, media engagement, and digital communications, helping to amplify project achievements, impact stories, and advocacy efforts. This opportunity provides hands-on experience in health communications, allowing the selected candidate to contribute to meaningful social change while gaining valuable professional skills. Key focus areas include content creation, media outreach, digital communications, and event support. Reporting Relationships Reports to the Communications Officer. Duties and responsibilities Main Tasks 1. Content Creation Assist in drafting blogs, newsletters, and press releases. Support development of IEC materials and branded content. Edit and proofread reports to align with Amref’s communication standards. 2. Social Media & Digital Engagement Draft social media posts and engage with online audiences. Assist in developing content for the Amref South Sudan website. 3. Media & Public Relations Assist in drafting press releases and media advisories. Support in media monitoring and compiling media coverage reports. Help in organizing media briefings and interviews. 4. Event Support Provide logistical and communication support for internal and external events. Assist in documentation, photography, and social media coverage of events. Take notes and prepare reports for key meetings. 5. Stakeholder Communication Maintain a database of key stakeholders. Assist in preparing and sending monthly updates to stakeholders. 6. Research & Reporting Conduct research on communication trends and best practices. Compile social media analytics and engagement reports. 7. Crisis Communication Support Assist in monitoring online discussions related to Amref South Sudan. Support the Communications Officer in drafting responses to reputation risks. 8. Administrative Support Maintain communication files and archives. Support in procurement and inventory of communication materials. Qualifications Education and Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree (or final-year student) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field. Experience: Prior experience in communications, social media management, or content creation is an advantage. Familiarity with digital communication tools and graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) is desirable. Skills: Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Proficiency in social media management. Basic photography and videography skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. 5.4 Competencies: Proactive and eager to learn. Creative with attention to detail. Team player with good interpersonal skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines. Languages English Arabic (Reading and writing is an added advantage) Compensation A modest stipend may be provided based on availability of funds.
