Description The Communications Manager is responsible for increasing awareness and managing the reputation of Kiwanis International and all Kiwanis subsidiaries. The Communications Manager will oversee communications strategy and tactics regarding the Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs – our leaderships and character-building programs for students, including K-Kids (elementary school), Builders Club (middle school), Key Club International (high school), Circle K International (college/university) and Aktion Club (adults with developmental disabilities). This candidate must be well-versed in content planning and storytelling in all forms — social media, newsletters, targeted emails, news blogs and features, news releases and video scripts. The Communications Manager will supervise the Digital Media Administrator and Marketing Specialist. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Works with the Communications team and Service Leadership Programs staff to create and manage content across multiple platforms — including web, print, video, email and social media that is useful to members of the Kiwanis family and encourages engagement and growth of new and existing clubs. (35%) Effectively manages projects through the project’s lifecycle using a project management system. Potential projects include but are not limited to event branding, video production, member handbooks, social and digital graphics and more. (30%) Supervise digital media staff, including delegating tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel, identifying and resolving conflicts within the team and leading, coaching and mentoring team members. (25%) Protect and advance the Kiwanis family brands. (10%) OTHER FUNCTIONS: Works closely with other members of the Communications Team to support goals, strategies and plans to achieve the vision, mission and strategic objectives of Kiwanis International. Participates in or leads team meetings. Assists with logistical implementation of communication services, including language services, international convention needs, and creative and production services. Other duties as assigned, trained for, and qualified to do. Requirements Experiential requirements: 7+ years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications or journalism. Strong writing, editing and curiosity skills. Enjoys collaborating with multiple teams on projects and processes. Stays current on social media, SEO and marketing trends and can apply them to day-to-day operations. Excellent problem-solving skills. Takes initiative, learns new skills and drives change. Meets deadlines and keeps colleagues and supervisor up to date on projects. Other requirements: Commitment to continuous innovation required. Experience with volunteer associations a plus Kiwanis family experience a plus Multilingual a plus Ability to work remote and in a hybrid environment WORKING CONDITIONS/OTHER INFORMATION: Some weekend work required. Domestic and international travel required. Required to sit most of day in meetings or to complete workload using a desk or laptop computer. Required to lead presentations or trainings for periods of time. Some telephone and public speaking work required.
