About the Role We are looking for a strong communications expert to accelerate and transform Dyson’s reputation in Japan. The successful candidate will be able to lead agencies and cross-functional teams to adopt new ways of PR. They will have up to date knowledge of new /social media and influencer-led communications as well as outstanding relationships with key target media, KOLs, zeitgeists and emerging influencers in Japan. This incumbent will have an innate ability to tell inspiring stories (and inspire others to tell their stories) in a way that works for Japanese audiences. They will lead new initiatives to challenge previous PR ‘norms’ to inspire and motivate people inside and outside of Dyson. Main Stakeholders Working day to day in Dyson’s in-house Communications team in Japan and with regional and global Dyson Communications leads, the role will also collaborate closely with the local Commercial teams, Cross-category Social Media Manager, as well as the global Social Media team. Core responsibilities: This person will lead earned Communications activities, from strategic planning to execution of campaigns that 1) support commercial objectives and 2) drive storytelling/thought leadership coverage that enhances Dyson’s reputation. Major accountabilities: STRATEGY - Plan and implement the Communications strategy for Dyson in Japan with a focus on maximising exposure and impact on the consumer benefits of Dyson products underpinned with our problem-solving approach, our products, people and places and the Dyson philosophy. Also, continuous planning and actions are required to position Dyson as an aspirational and premium that prioritises technology and innovation. Effective budget management. REPUTATION BUILDING - Maximize each narrative to build Dyson’s reputation and desirability as a global technology company with products that deliver advanced performance and long-term value. Grow share of voice and understanding of the Dyson difference while driving impact in tangible ways to contribute to business growth. LEADERSHIP – Be a global leader for Dyson working closely with different stakeholders to create strategic plans to execute with excellent outcomes. Strong resilience and collaborative behaviours as a leader working with X functional team. ENGAGEMENT – Drive engagement with the right media, influencers, KOLs and third party experts to strength brand equity across all focus categories. Responsibilities: Establish strong Dyson credentials in Japan through earned media Proactive contact with relevant media and influencers Grow Dyson’s share of voice and reputation in key spaces with related earned social / influencer activities Build Dyson’s brand equity by holistically working with cross function team Create locally relevant event experiences and narratives that land the Dyson difference for consumers through experiences and coverage Strategic planning and execution of high impact product launches Holistic quarterly, yearly communication in to work with X functional team About You Skills & Competencies: Minimum 7 years and above of PR/Communications experience in a PR/Communication agency and ideally in-house with expertise in Product PR and Brand PR as part of a fast-paced, agile and change driven industry. Depending on experience, the role can be considered at Manager or Senior Manager level Digital communication and/or experience with digital media/social influencers Early adopter with having high interest for new ways of PR/ Communications Strong business acumen as a strategic thinker who delivers excellent execution Fluent in English verbally and written skills Personal Characteristics: Proactive, out of the box thinker, less reactive communicator.
