The Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change has an exciting opportunity for a new Communications Manager to join the team.
The Communications Manager will be responsible for delivering the collaboration’s external communications including media engagement and online and social presence to reach and engage our key audiences in the latest scientific evidence to secure climate action for a healthy future.
The Lancet Countdown: Tracking Progress on Health and Climate Change is an independent, international research collaboration, that works to track the evolving links between health and climate change globally, regionally and nationally. The Lancet Countdown receives core strategic funding from Wellcome, and works in partnership with the World Health Organization, publishing annually in The Lancet. Its aim is to inform a robust response to climate change that protects and promotes human health.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The postholder will work closely with the Head of Communications, and alongside Communications Managers and Policy Managers at our other centres to create complementary and impactful campaigns which are policy-relevant to drive an accelerated response to climate change.
The postholder will be responsible for leading the communications and engagement work for the global Lancet Countdown indicator reports and thematic reports and for managing the Lancet Countdown’s online presence, including updating the website (WordPress) and social channel content (LinkedIn, X, and BlueSky).
The post holder will also be responsible for developing and managing the media and PR aspects of the launch of the Lancet Countdown’s annual report, including its media strategy and messaging; coordination and training for key spokespeople; development of press materials; and coordination of events.
This is a full-time role (i.e. 36.5 hours per week) and it is available immediately until April 2029 in the first instance.

Salary range: £43,374 to £51,860 per annum (including London Allowance), depending on experience.
