Overview Operates a switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Oversees scheduling for Switchboard Operators. Responsibilities • Places outgoing calls for employee which requires operator assistance records such calls,answers questions regarding patient condition according to established procedure• Answers “code phone” and pages appropriate information• Assists in processing mail and patient accounts as time permits• Answers incoming calls questions, direct visitors to patient rooms, etc.• Responsible for remaining aware of disaster plan and procedure to follow in the event of a drill oran actual disaster occurs• May enter data on records• Oversees scheduling of Switchboard Operators to ensure there is adequate coverage for thedepartment• Efficiently utilizes resources and supplies. • Proficiently utilizes computer system to access patient information, email, and other requiredsystems.• Successfully performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Required: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Experience: Minimum of 6 months customer service required.
