    Responsibilities
    We are seeking a versatile Communications Specialist to craft compelling digital content that engages audiences across social media, web and other digital platforms. This role focuses on organic content—ranging from quick-turn iPhone videos to polished, high-production assets. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller who thrives at blending writing, design and multimedia skills to produce content tailored to each platform’s unique audience and voice.
    The department is responsible to build, grow and protect Mayo Clinic’s reputation in a way that shapes the external environment and nurtures the culture to help achieve the mission of the organization. Department functions consist of reputation management, including thought leadership and issues/crisis response; client communications and engagement programs; staff engagement; content and channels; government and community engagement; strategy and insights; communications services.
    The specialist understands Mayo Clinic business objectives and priorities and participates in creating and implementing plans to meet those objectives. The specialist supports client needs and partners with other department team members to drive and measure outcomes. Must develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the organization’s mission.

    Qualifications
    Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 1 year of relevant work experience. Related internships will be considered. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate in a way that creates clarity, simplifies messages, and aligns with organizational strategy. Knowledge of channels for communication and the ability to build effective communication and engagement strategies.
    Must be a self-starter with the ability to independently identify opportunities, solutions and resolve challenges. Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful results. Requires an attitude that actively seeks out change, embraces critical questioning, innovation, service and continuous improvement. Must understand how to deal with and navigate ambiguity, and act without having the total picture. Adaptable or flexible. Demonstrated professionalism and ethics, with ability to earn credibility through integrity and transparency. Role models service excellence. Motivates others by being present, engaged, attentive, invites diverse perspectives, demonstrates and inspires a collaborative spirit.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in digital content creation tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Figma, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style across platforms and audiences.
  • Hands-on experience in video and photography production, from quick-turn mobile content to high-quality campaigns.
  • Demonstrated ability to align creative work with brand voice and strategic objectives.
  • Excellent organizational skills and proven success managing multiple projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of social media and digital trends, with the ability to apply emerging best practices to content strategy.
