JOB DESCRIPTION:

Forward Air is looking for an experienced Communications Specialist who will report to the Chief People Officer to help establish the strategic direction and day-to-day management of integrated internal communications. The Communication Specialist is responsible for providing overall communications support. The ideal candidate will be an engaged, strategic, and visionary professional with 3-5 years of experience working on internal corporate communications, change management, or employee engagement. The ideal candidate is also highly organized and comfortable with multitasking. The individual must be team-oriented, professional, hardworking, creative, flexible, and work well independently.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field required
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in a similar role is required
  • Experience leading projects, outcomes, and people is a must
  • Video production and editing experience is a plus
  • Outstanding strategic communications, public relations, organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills
  • Excellence in creative copywriting, editing, proofreading, and publishing content that is relevant to intended audiences
  • Operate with a high degree of strategic thinking, initiative, and dedication to results
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, with strength in defining shared goals and working to build consensus to reach them
  • Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and external vendors

SKILLS:

  • The ideal candidate will possess a “can do” attitude with a “will do” work ethic
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint (or related presentation software)
  • Impeccable writing skills and deep understanding of AP standards
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to multitask and work within deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
  • Proactively plan and execute integrated, internal communications initiatives
  • Collaborate with department and project liaisons and certain subject matter experts in a timely manner to determine appropriate communications strategies via various channels
  • Develop refine core messaging for the company and its business units
  • Plan, design, and content map communications channels; this may include emails, newsletters, videos, and other items as needed
  • Write, edit, and distribute content for internal communications
  • Maintain a consistent style, tone, and brand voice across various channels
  • Measure and analyze engagement and output performance to recommend adjustments or improvements based on data and employee feedback
  • Proofread and format communications, documents, meeting materials, and other official company documents as needed
  • Assist in the development of presentations and talking points for senior leadership
  • Support the planning and execution of company-wide town halls and department specific all-hands meetings
  • Support employee engagement and corporate events as needed
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
