Sweetser has a brand-new role within the Communications Team!!! Join one of Maine’s biggest non-profit organizations as a Communications Associate.
As the Communications Associate, you will join a small but growing Communications & Public Relations Team at one of the largest providers of behavioral health services in Maine. We are looking for an individual who brings a passion for telling stories with unique creativity combined with expertise in best practice communication strategies to help amplify our mission to various target audiences. You will be responsible for external and internal multimedia creation including social media posts, video production, photography, graphic design, and community event coordination. You will help make a difference in the lives of Mainers most in need by sharing stories of impact with the public, donors, stakeholders, and staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant communications field and at least 1-2 years of additional relevant professional experience.
  • Some experience with image and video editing.
  • Graphic design skills and use of various graphic design software including Adobe suite
  • Video production experience.
  • Basic understanding of email marketing tools like Constant Contact.
  • Familiarity with online content marketing, social media development strategies, and general knowledge of Search Engine Optimization
  • Relevant experience determining a target audience and how to cater unique marketing campaigns to capture their attention
  • Excel at learning new technology, software, and online tools.
  • Proactive project management skills and the ability to balance several projects with tight deadlines simultaneously with prioritization guidance from your supervisor.
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a positive member of a team and collaborate with others.
Responsibilities
  • Assists with the development and successful implementation of the department’s communications initiatives, which include both external and internal campaigns of varying complexity.
  • Multimedia Production: Video & Photography to capture stories of impact
  • Content Creation: social media graphics and email communications
  • Utilizes and maximizes social media marketing opportunities including content development and scheduling of posts on all platforms
  • Designs and distributes external and internal print collateral and support documents including but not limited to flyers, brochures, and assists with organizational publication development.
  • Conduct interviews with staff for intranet postings & for external recruitment, client referral, and sponsor testimonials
  • Works with Development team on fundraising projects and events including the planning and creation of mail pieces, email communications, social media posts, videos, etc.
  • Assists in the planning, coordination, and presence at special events, sponsorships, conferences, and representing the organization within the communities we serve when needed
  • Periodic travel between various office locations to ensure proper coverage of organizational happenings and ensure each location has proper print collateral and promotional material supplies.
  • Completes other special projects as assigned by supervisor.
