COMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIAN

We currently have multiple exciting opportunities for Intermediate and Advanced Skilled Communications Technician, on a Permanent Full-Time basis.
This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters, the depot offers an excellent on-site café, shuttle bus to-and-from the Cockburn Train Station, end of trip facilities including secure bicycle storage and freshening up rooms. ABOUT YOU
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
- Diploma in Electrotechnology / Electronics / Telecommunications or Radio / telecommunications Trade Certificate
- At least 7+ years demonstrated technical experience in a telecommunication or related industry
- Thorough knowledge of the system design for two or more of the following.
- Fixed & Mobile Radio (VHF-SHF)
- Cable Carrier Systems (Metallic/Optical Fiber)
- MUX Networks
- Ethernet Networks
- High Speed Digital Transmission
- Power Line Carrier systems
- Tele protection systems
- Supervisory systems
- Project, contract and maintenance management systems and tools.
- Continuous improvement, training, and coaching techniques
- Thorough knowledge of engineering standards, regulations, and procedures applicable to the Section and Stream.
- MS Office systems, Word, Excel & or Access. Ellipse and scheduling/work management systems
- Be a team player and a role model to less experienced Communications Technician
- Be innovative and use appropriate technology to improve and manage the Telecommunications Networks
Responsibilities:
As a Communication Technician, you will be required to apply specialist telecommunications technical knowledge and skills gained in the maintenance, operations, installation, commissioning and testing of Western Power telecommunications facilities / assets.
Provide, develop, design and research communications activities, prepare new product assessment reports and or conduct training and competency evaluations of field-based employees as required.
