Surrey Place helps people learn new skills, gain self-confidence and reach their full potential.    POSITION DESCRIPTION The PSL and ACWA programs at Surrey Place are seeking a Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA). Reporting to the Manager, Early Years, the CDA works as part of an interdisciplinary team under the regular oversight of a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). The CDA will support with providing preschool speech and language services to children and Augmentative and Alternative Communication services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families and caregivers.     MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES * Collaborate with the SLP to support the delivery of speech and language interventions using a  mediator model with caregivers * Provide consultation to caregivers and professionals in the community to offer guidance in effectively implementing strategies to support established goals * Provide training to clients, caregivers, and professionals on the technical operations of the AAC devices/software * Create communication materials and program Speech-Generating Devices * Plan and facilitate workshops, presentations and other educational sessions * Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities to enhance your knowledge and skills in communication disorders   QUALIFICATIONS * Graduate Diploma in Communicative Disorders or other relevant courses * Six months of related experience and a thorough understanding of speech and language disorders, communication development and intervention techniques are essential * Experience working with individuals with special needs, developmental disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder  * Familiarity with sign language systems such as Signed English and American Sign Language is considered an asset * Proficiency in working with both low-tech and high-tech Speech-Generating Devices  * The successful candidate must provide an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Screening. * Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Surrey Place is an equal opportunity employer.
