ABOUT EVOKE LEARNING

Evoke is a modern learning and wellness centre that uses the most current research-informed and individualized interventions and practices to support neurodiverse students striving to achieve their full academic potential and enhance their social-emotional well-being. Our tutors, strategists, and coaches are dedicated to creating a student-centred support model using holistic approaches informed by current cognitive science. We understand that everyone’s learning journey is unique, and we consider the student to be the expert in their own life. The Evoke network is a community that puts students first.

POSITION SUMMARY

Evoke is seeking a dedicated and compassionate communicative disorders assistant or paraprofessional who is passionate about supporting neurodiverse learners.
As a reading remediation tutor, you will provide one-to-one reading intervention sessions, remotely, to students in grade 1 through to 12. This role requires a strong understanding of the science of reading.
Reading remediation tutors provide targeted, explicit, systematic instruction aligned with the science of reading to improve literacy outcomes for students. Using Evoke Learning’s reading remediation curriculum, reading remediation tutors are responsible for preparing for and implementing student lesson plans, and assessing and monitoring student progress to ensure intervention is strategic and measured.
This is a part-time independent contractor position, and the candidate must be available during Evoke’s reading remediation program hours, for a minimum of 10 hours per week, at the same time each day. These hours (Eastern Standard Time), include:
o During the school year (September 1 to June 30)
§ Monday to Friday
§ 7:30am – 8:35am and 3:30pm to 7:45pm
o During the summer months (July 1 to August 31)
§ Monday to Friday
§ 7:00am – 8:35am and 5:00pm to 7:45pm
Please note that we require a 5-minute gap between clients that are booked back-to-back, which can impact the end times of a shift. For example, if you opt to choose your availability as 5:30 – 8:00 pm, the full shift and required availability would be 5:30 – 8:25 pm.
Only a very limited number of students are available for reading remediation during daytime hours, apart from the summer months. Evoke’s reading program runs all calendar year long.
This is a remote position, and all service are delivered one-to-one, virtually. Evoke does not offer group programming.
