The opportunity Downer’s Water business is seeking a Community & Stakeholder Relations Officer to support the Greater Western Water Program. In this role, you will help plan and deliver diverse communication and stakeholder engagement strategies, ensuring stakeholders remain informed, supported, and satisfied throughout project delivery. Working closely with project teams, residents, businesses, subcontractors, and external partners, you will lead proactive engagement, identify community impacts, and act as the primary point of contact for enquiries and issues. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of meaningful engagement activities across a major water infrastructure program while championing Downer’s Zero Harm values. What we’re looking for We are seeking a self-motivated professional with: Education & qualifications Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, marketing, or equivalent experience. Experience Experience working in communications and/or community engagement, ideally within infrastructure, water, or road sectors. Demonstrated experience contributing to multidisciplinary project teams and managing high‑impact, high‑volume engagement activities. Extensive experience building and maintaining strong relationships with community members and stakeholders. Skills & knowledge Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences. Proven ability to manage and resolve complex stakeholder issues, complaints, and conflicts. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent projects. Desirable: Experience with Consultation Manager or similar stakeholder management tools; awareness of the water industry and Greater Western Water requirements.
