We promote hope and empowerment to persons and families touched by mental illness, substance abuse, HIV and multiple occurring diagnoses, and their related challenges. Are you eager to assist a client through their Mental Health and Substance Use recovery process in an outpatient therapeutic setting? We are seeking a Community-Based Counselor to provide supportive person-centered counseling services to individuals in a compassionate way. Please look at the highlights below: What You'll Do at BCCS as a PCCP Community-Based Counselor: Be responsible for a caseload of clients, as identified by program requirements and in accordance with state regulations. Completes required evaluations and assessments. Documents all clinical services and interventions performed within the clients ‘electronic record. Monitors client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed. Maintains contact with outside providers to coordinate care. Administers various testing and evaluation protocols to potential clients and explains the nature of the program and the necessary rules. Assists clients in obtaining admission, entitlements, and related benefits. The counselor shall assess client in removing barriers for admission and successful participation in the program and refer to case management and/or community support when appropriate Engages client into treatment by use of evidence-based practice individual, group and/or family counseling, education and service linkage as specified on treatment plan. Provides outreach activities to the community, offering education programs to various groups as assigned Participates in weekly treatment team meetings. Confer with the Clinical Supervisor on a daily basis for casing. Performs other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of assessment and counseling/therapy principles Considerable knowledge of population being served and available resources Ability to evaluate and screen clients for appropriate treatment and document progress of clients May require crisis intervention to emergency situations Skill in establishing rapport with clients Ability to work independently and as part of a focused team Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Requirements Qualifications for the position are: REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED Preferred: Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, criminal justice or human services. REQUIRED: 1 year experience in the Substance Abuse Field and/or Mental Health (Required) Maintain CADC/CCDP or provide verification of active pursuit of CADC/CCDP. Preferred: CADC, CCDP, LPC, LCSW Salary: From $21/hour Commensurate with experience, education, and certification!
