Job Details Job Location: Oklahoma City Housing Authority - Oklahoma City, OK Salary Range: $36292.00 - $54438.00 Salary Description POSITION SUMMARY : The Community Builder supports the social well-being, stability, and engagement of residents living at the Vita Nova and Dorset communities. The position focuses on creating welcoming, connected residential environments by facilitating community building activities, resource navigation, resident leadership development, and on-site support services. This position is grant-funded for two years. SCOPE: The Community Builder functions as an on-site relationship and engagement presence and splits time evenly between two assigned housing communities. The role does not provide clinical intervention; rather the focus is on building trust, strengthening community connection, identifying needs through direct engagement, and offering light-touch support and referrals. The Community Builder works within a housing stability framework that emphasizes resident voice, empowerment, community-building activities, peer support, and linkage to services. ACCOUNTABILITY: Directly responsible to the Resident Services Department Program Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Community Builder will work 40 hours per week. Additional hours may occur occasionally. Maintain ongoing, positive engagement efforts with all residents including proactive outreach, casual check-ins, and community-building activities designed to keep avenues of support open. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and collaborative planning sessions. Build and maintain a Tenant Association at both Vita Nova and Dorset Place, which flows into the larger OCHA Resident Council. Works with external agencies’ case management staff to ensure residents are thoroughly guided to outside community organizations for long-term housing stability. Works with external agencies and individuals in facilitating volunteer opportunities and donations for both Vita Nova and Dorset Communities. Leads weekly multi-disciplinary meetings at both sites. Document engagement efforts, referrals, and activities in designated tracking system in a timely manner not to exceed 72 hours. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field; may substitute four years of relevant work experience for the required degree. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others and to deal tactfully with residents and the public. Experience in community organizing, social services, education, peer support, or a related field. Ability to engage and build rapport with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and work with discretion. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must be available for nonstandard work hours. Possess strong human relations, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to retain proprietary information as confidential. Ability to comply with Authority attendance policies. Routine travel between properties and to community partner locations is expected. Reliable transportation and possession of a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License is required. Experience working in affordable housing or community-based settings is preferred. PHYSICAL: Ability to read and maintain vehicle and activity logs. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person and telephone. Ability to operate handicapped lifts, secure riders, and sit for long periods of time. Physical range of motion and coordination for extensive work with files. All physical requirements are evaluated based on the ability to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations under the ADA. This position is eligible to telework.
