ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The NSW SES is seeking motivated and community-focused individuals to join our Community Capability Team. As a Community Capability Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting disaster resilience across NSW by building strong connections with local communities and stakeholders. You will lead and support initiatives that prepare communities for floods, storms and tsunamis, while also supporting our dedicated SES volunteers in their community engagement efforts.

As the Community Capability Officer some your daily tasks will include:

  • Developing and maintaining networks with community organisations and Emergency Service partners
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver effective public preparedness campaigns
  • Supporting volunteers to work alongside their communities to reduce their risk and be more resilient through community engagement
Responsibilities

As the Community Capability Officer some your daily tasks will include:

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a passion for working with and empowering communities
  • Be proficient in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and be able to communicate with a wide range of external and internal partners as well as the ability to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders to work on a common goal
  • Have experience in the development and implementation of innovative community programs
  • Be a confident and clear communicator within public information, risk awareness and deeper community engagement campaigns
  • Be willing to travel to promote and support the delivery of community programs
  • Have a thorough knowledge of AIIMS principles and processes, and/or willingness to obtain competence within 12 months
  • Be a self-driven, motivated achiever who can work with people from a diverse range of backgrounds with varying levels of education and work experience
