Berkshire Community Dental Service is looking to recruit a Dental Service Manager . The person will work closely with the Chief Dentist and Lead Dental Nurse and be part of the Senior Management Team in the development, management, monitoring and evaluation of the Berkshire Community Dental Service. They will be expected to work with the Thames Valley Community Dental Service (TVCDS) partners and Senior Programme Manager as part of the TVCDS collaborative working .
The Service Manager will have relevant qualifications or significant knowledge and experience in service management , quality improvement, established leadership skills and experience in operational management of clinical teams . They must have excellent communication and liaison skills to engage and collaborate with a number of colleagues and stakeholders both internal and external.
Although this is predominantly a management role, the post holder will be required to carry out clinical duties as necessary to meet the needs of the service and to update and maintain clinical skills.
To contribute, at an appropriate level , to the formulation and implementation of contractual, strategic, procedural and policy documents
Meet the Chief Dentist regularly to ensure that she is kept up to date with operational issues and contributing, where appropriate , to operational and wider strategic planning issues related to the service; intercepting and raising any staffing or other issues of concern within the department.
Coordinate the installation and commissioning of various projects as they arise. This may involve liaison with suppliers, establishments, facilities and other agencies, the Chief Dentist and clinical staff.
Handle sensitive material and dealing with non-clinical complaints ensuring a satisfactory and acceptable outcome.
To have sufficient knowledge and experience of dental matters at service and area level to provide advice or support on such matters to other members of the dental team
To work with the informatics and data teams to produce reports
To assist in the financial and budget management of the service and also the collection and recording of appropriate patient charges
To attend management team meetings as requested by the Chief Dentist
Supervision and line management of the dental care professionals and dental support staff working within the service
To ensure compliance with relevant aspects of CQC registration as required by the Trust

Responsibilities

You will have recent and significant experience of working in a community dental service
You will have experience of management roles and knowledge of clinical roles within the Community Dental Service.
You will be expected to work autonomously and must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to influence and motivate others, and possess good planning and organisational skills.
You will be able to work effectively as part of a team.
You will have excellent IT skills including Teams, Excel and PowerPoint .
You will be able to work under pressure at a fast pace and use your initiative to make decisions when the Chief Dentist is not available
