This role will be important to the Barnsley Big Idea for Physical Activity supported by Sport England. As a Community Development Officer, you will provide specialist support through a placed-based approach in a number of communities to help create the conditions for more people to enjoy the benefits of moving more. You will need to be able to display:

• You are excellent with people.
• Experience of community development, strength-based and place-based approaches.
• Knowledge of asset mapping and network connectivity.
• Experience of working with local groups to create the conditions that help people to Move More. Live Well. Feel Better.
• An Understand of the barriers to being active and how physical activity can help people and communities thrive.

Working in close partnership with colleagues in the team, across the council and a host of statutory, community and voluntary groups, you will lend your expertise to programmes promoting physical activity, health, and wellbeing.
What you’ll need
To join us, you’ll need a mix of relevant qualifications with at least one being at level 4 or above, with extensive experience in community development and/or the sport and physical activity sector.
