Job Description Fixed term contract for 4 months, Full Time $99.526.96 per annum plus Superannuation Join the Community Capacity Building team Hume City Council is one of Australia’s fastest growing and culturally diverse councils. As a Community Development Officer, you will ensure that Council programs, services and projects are inclusive and accessible, adhering to Council’s Social Justice Charter. Support the community and partners to develop and implement community-based projects and initiatives that respond to social justice priorities within the municipality. What you’ll be doing: Support the planning, delivery and capacity building of Neighbourhood Houses, Men's Sheds and Community Gardens within the City of Hume. Develop and deliver capacity building projects with these groups to increase community connectedness and resilience. Oversee the operations of the Men’s Sheds and Community Gardens programs through effective project management and coordinate the planning, development, implementation and review of Community Garden infrastructure projects within the context of the Community Capacity Building team’s authority. Administer the Neighbourhood House funding allocation program and associated service agreements. Assist with the preparation of Council reports pertaining to all of the above. Facilitate community capacity building projects in communities in the municipality that enhance wellbeing, improve safety, celebrate diversity and strengthen community and social cohesion. Apply community development principles in the execution of all responsibilities and duties both with internal and external interest groups. The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role: Demonstrated experience in engaging multiple stakeholders, enhancing public participation and building community capacity through a variety of community development processes, practices and activities. Demonstrated experience working with diverse communities and understanding of cultural competency, social inclusion, diversity, inclusion and social justice principals. Proven facilitation, presentation, liaison and influencing skills with residents, community groups, other Council departments and organisations. Ability to plan, implement, report on and evaluate projects, providing sound and timely advice, information and data on issues relating to diverse and/or disadvantaged communities. Highly developed written and oral communication skills including ability to prepare correspondence, reports, financial reports and acquittals. Experience and/or understanding of Men's Sheds, Neighbourhood Houses and Community Gardens, their roles and interconnectivity with Council. Knowledge of Community Development principles. Required Certifications & Qualifications A degree or equivalent qualification in Community Development or a related field, with a focus on community development and some experience, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience. Current Driver's licence, Police Check and Working with Children Check. Why Hume City Council?
