POSITION SUMMARY:

Drivers are responsible for transporting residents, staff, or handling deliveries in a timely manner, and may have to work nights and weekends to accomplish their duties. Drivers may also assist Maintenance in completing general work around the community.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma.
  • A minimum of one year of driving vans for seniors.
  • Hold valid driver’s license in the state where the Community is located. Must have clean driving record and meet all other employee requirements.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must function independently with minimal supervision, be flexible in scheduling, have personal integrity, be able to work effectively with residents, personnel, outside vendors, and other support agencies.
  • Must be able to interact with residents who are highly susceptible to common illness without exposing them to additional health risks.
  • May assist Maintenance Director in keep facility in compliance with government regulations including OSHA, Life Safety Code, and assisted living regulations, if applicable.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents in emergency situations.
  • Must always maintain a professional appearance and attitude.

Responsibilities
  • Transport residents, staff and/or packages to and from destinations
  • Arrive at destinations on schedule
  • Fulfill administrative needs as assigned
  • Research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather delays
  • Use navigation applications to determine the best route, if available
  • Always interact with residents and staff professionally
  • Ensure that the community vehicle is always fueled and ready for use
  • Arrange for vehicle repairs as needed
  • Keep mileage records and repair records up-to-date
  • Assist residents to transfer onto the vehicle and into seating
  • Operate van lift
  • Keep community vehicles clean inside and out
  • Complete motor vehicle check list prior to and after each trip.
  • Other duties as assigned.
