Hours of work: 25 hours per week
Salary: £28,087 gross per annum (Actual £18,978 gross per annum)

Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Community Drop-in Facilitator will provide face to face early intervention and preventative mental health and wellbeing support, signposting and providing advice via weekly drop-ins based within four community lounges in Burslem, Fenton, Bentilee and Blurton.
The postholder will contribute to the effective delivery of both one-to-one and group support, deliver a suite of psycho-educational workshops, work closely with partner agencies to offer guest speaker slots/workshops, and will ensure that appropriate policies and procedures conform to best practice.
This job description is an outline and may be subject to development and refinement in negotiation with the postholder.

KEY TASKS:

  • Facilitate and provide general support to service users experiencing mental health difficulties using drop-ins and social support groups, which may vary in presentation and size.
  • Provide one-to-one support to service users, when appropriate.
  • Develop and deliver workshops.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with Locality Connectors across the Community Lounges.
  • Develop and improve social and community participation with influence and evaluation from volunteers and Mental Health Champions.
  • Maintain records of attendance figures for the drop-ins and groups and of activity carried out.
  • Provide timely and accurate data on activity, outcomes, and attendance levels to the Head of Services to facilitate the production of quarterly monitoring reports.
  • Liaise and network with other service providers such as health, social care, Benefits Agency, CAB, housing, and employment advisers so that service users can be effectively signposted and supported in moving on to other beneficial services.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisation and communication skills, when supporting people and other colleagues.
  • Share information required ensuring that the individual clients are protected/supported in line with agreed North Staffs Mind policies and procedures and GDPR.
  • Ensure that clients and staff work in a safe and appropriate way within the group environment, maintaining appropriate boundaries always including confidentiality.
  • Appropriately manage any concerns raised within the group, or by a service user, to ensure the clients are supported adequately.
  • Promote recovery and independence by working with service users to develop action plans and provide dedicated support to individuals to help them to achieve their goals.
  • Be responsible for your own safety and wellbeing, as well as that of service users and other staff – following health and safety procedures on site.
  • Work flexibly across a five-day week to allow us to offer the best service possible to clients.
  • Adhere to North Staffs Mind policies and procedures, including confidentiality and safeguarding, and relevant policies.
  • Work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy 2018.
  • Carry out other relevant and appropriate duties as requested by the line manager to ensure the efficient operation of the service.
