Description

Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent, and treat diseases. Diseases like cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease affect the lives of many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, to improve our understanding and spot the patterns of how and why common diseases start, so treatments can begin sooner and be more effective.
The ambition of Our Future Health differs from other large UK population cohorts in terms of scale, and the aim to recruit much higher numbers of participants from groups who are not well represented in research i.e. ethnic minorities, younger people and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
We’re hiring a Community Engagement Manager to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the organisation to develop and implement scalable community engagement pilots to reach and support these diverse communities.
This work will be central to our outreach work. Using data and insights, you will take a ‘test and learn’ approach to understand what works for different communities to help us develop a multi-layered approach to enhance our diversity efforts.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be able to design and develop engagement pilots based on data and insights, delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions
  • Understand how to evaluate, monitor and assess pilots
  • Have experience and understanding of working with under-represented and diverse groups
  • Be collaborative and be able to build effective working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels and from all backgrounds
  • Have a dynamic, flexible approach, with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Be someone who works well in a busy, changing environment with tight deadlines and takes pride in the little touches that make for strong relationships and excellent events
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex messaging clearly and in a way that is meaningful for different groups of people.
