Job Title: Community Engagement Manager
Department: Development
Reports To: Senior Development Director
Position: Exempt $40,000-$45,000
Job Summary: Responsible for creating engaging content for JHS social media, blog, emails, campaigns, website, and other communications that advance our lifesaving mission to the community, under the direction of the Senior Director of Development
Primary Responsibilities
Develops and executes marketing plans that advance JHS social media platforms including growth, reach, and fundraising
Create and support general engagement goals for website, social media, marketing and print materials by gathering stories and creating content, on the fly and as assigned
Develop and execute content to market JHS programs including, but not limited to, adoptions, community, fundraising, humane education, pet retention, etc.
Support community engagement by replying to social media comments, messages, google reviews, Facebook fundraisers, emails and phone calls
Evaluate images and stories that forward our mission – social media sharing, sharing with donors, sharing with funders, etc.
Perform monthly social media audits and provide statistics/reports to Senior Director of Development
Create and schedule eblasts as directed as well as social content to be scheduled daily and on one or more of JHS’s social channels.
Execute marketing plan for digital fundraisers and events, including but not limited to, updating website, event calendars, scheduling social media, press releases, media alerts, eblasts, etc.
Support JHS communications strategy with media appearances as scheduled by taking adoptable pets to news stations, radio stations and events
Develop relationships with media partners to further advance the JHS mission
Support Operations goals for adoption events, in-kind donations, foot traffic, etc. by completing tasks on marketing plan
Monitor emails sent to the general JHS inbox, and email, respond, or distribute among team members appropriately
Maintain and advance the JHS website, including working with partners to ensure excellent user experience, increase fundraising, improve SEO and other organization goals
Represent JHS at community events
Assist with general website maintenance
Provide support for Education program as needed
Supervise college interns
Provide tours for visitors, partners, supporters, guests, etc.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area
Previous experience and demonstrated success in a similar role
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent writing skills with ability to draft, proof, edit and revise quickly are a must
Strong commitment to JHS and our mission to serve pets, people who love pets, and our community is a must
Ability to execute media interviews, both live and filmed, is a must
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Outlook
Experience with social media scheduling software, graphic design/image software and website editing preferred
Computer literacy in word processing, desktop publishing and database use
Excellent time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills
Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently
Ability to identify both problems and solutions
Schedule flexibility to include nights and weekends
Valid state driver’s license and excellent driving record
Physical Requirements
Standing for extended periods of time
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to work with cleaning products
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and climates
Ability to work in a noisy office environment
Work Schedule
Position requires flexible schedule that includes weekday, weekend and holiday hours due to events.
Performance Measures
Able to independently manage all social media channels in the absence of direct supervisor, including creating content, responding to followers, evaluating engagements and making strategic decisions related to upcoming content such as subject matter, voice and timing
Meet establish goals for digital fundraising, social media growth/engagement, donor relations
Create a plan to increase number of followers and engagement on social channels
Timely, accurate, and thorough marketing execution for all JHS events
Maintain excellent response rate for all JHS communications
