JOIN THE NSW DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AS A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT OFFICER (CLERK GRADE 7/8)

We are excited to announce an opening for a Community Engagement Officer within our Teaching and Learning Support directorate.

  • Location: Parramatta with access to various NSW Education offices and flexible working arrangements available. We encourage applicants who reside in regional areas to apply.
  • Salary: Clerk Grade 7/8 with base salary ranging from $113,574 to $125,720 per annum, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

ABOUT MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION

The Multicultural Education Unit promotes education for all students about cultural diversity, community harmony, anti-racism, multifaith and intercultural understanding. The team provides programs that meet the specific needs of students who are learning English as an additional language or dialect, including newly arrived students and students from refugee backgrounds. The team delivers services that facilitate communication and engagement with parents, carers and communities from culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse communities.

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hold a current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment (or willing to acquire one)
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Community Engagement Officer provides support and guidance to school leaders and other school staff in building cultural inclusion, cohesion and engagement with families and communities from culturally diverse backgrounds. This role works with targeted schools to support Multicultural Education.
