Summary: Under the general direction of the Manager, Community Impact, the Community Engagement Specialist supports and advances SRP’s community engagement and outreach initiatives in alignment with the credit union’s strategic growth goals. This role promotes a positive image of SRP within the community, increases awareness of products and services, supports membership growth, and strengthens relationships with key community partners. A high degree of creativity, initiative, and independent judgment is required. Scheduling: Varies as required by departmental and community event planning needs. Occasional early mornings, late evenings and weekends required Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Community Engagement & Outreach Serve as a visible brand ambassador for SRP by actively participating in community activities, networking events, business expos, trade shows, and outreach initiatives. Identify, build, and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, organizations, educators, schools, and stakeholders within SRP’s field of membership. Act as SRP’s liaison to local Chambers of Commerce, including coordination, communication, and event ticketing. Administer the Kadince platform to ensure community events and sponsorships are accurately represented. Assist with the development and execution of high-impact, high-visibility community involvement initiatives. Member Growth & Relationship Development Promote, sell, and cross-sell SRP products and services to current and prospective members using a member benefit-based approach. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of SRP products and services to effectively identify member needs and provide value-added solutions. Partner collaboratively with internal teams to support strategic growth and member relationship goals. Programs, Events & Sponsorships Coordinate SRP’s participation in community events, volunteer initiatives, and outreach efforts, encouraging and motivating ambassador involvement. Organize and maintain correspondence and documentation for Marketing-approved sponsorships; assist with CIC-approved sponsorships as needed. Support inventory management of SRP promotional items, including ordering, tracking, restocking, and fulfilling event requests. Cross-train with Community Impact team members to assist in the development, coordination, and facilitation of financial literacy programs for members, schools, employers, and community groups. Education & School Partnerships Support the High School Affinity Debit Card Program by serving as an additional point of contact for school administrators. Provide program updates, deliver materials, conduct periodic school visits, and assist with onboarding new school partnerships. Create, cultivate, and strengthen long-term relationships with educators and school systems. Compliance & Policy Adherence Fully comply with all credit union policies and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and OFAC. Maintain professionalism and sound judgment when handling sensitive member, employee, and community interactions. Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate management. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Education / Experience Associate Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Social Work, Business, or a related field preferred. Six or more years of related experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two years of experience in community engagement, outreach, or a comparable field. Credit union or financial services experience preferred. Technical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with presentation software platforms. Comfortable using digital tools for communication, scheduling, and reporting. Professional & Interpersonal Skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust across diverse communities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Professional, tactful approach when handling challenging situations or interactions. Flexible schedule and willingness to travel locally and occasionally out of town; reliable transportation required. Must maintain personal finances in good standing; subject to initial and periodic credit profile reviews. Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands and arms. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally. Requires effective communication in person, by phone, and via digital platforms. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
