Job Details Job Location: HYC Main Office Headquarters - Whittier, CA 90604 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $30.00 - $30.00 Hourly Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services POSITION TITLE: Community Engagement Specialist Community Family Resource Center (CFRC) Looking for Candidates that live within: Supervisorial District 4 in Los Angeles County which covers a diverse area including Maywood, Vernon, South Gate, Cerritos, Bellflower, Lynwood, Palos Verdes Estate Torrance, Long Beach, and parts of the Gateway Cities. POSITION DESCRIPTION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Community Engagement Specialist (CES) will develop and implement community engagement strategies to strengthen family and community connections. This position is responsible for cultivating and empowering family leadership, building and sustaining relationships between families and their communities, and working to remove barriers while creating bridges that foster community success. The CES will facilitate parent and family workgroups at the Community Family Resource Center (CFRC) to engage and empower caregivers as active participants and critical thinkers. In addition, the CES will collaborate effectively with co-workers, partners, and community stakeholders by sharing ideas constructively, considering input from others, following through on commitments, and maintaining respectful communication. Under the direct supervision of the CFRC Program Manager, the Community Engagement Specialist will: Develop and implement community engagement strategies, cultivate and empower family leadership, provide support to build and strengthen relationships between families and communities. Facilitate parent and family workgroups at the Community Family Resource Center (CFRC) to engage and empower caregivers as active participants and critical thinkers. Plan and execute large in-person community outreach and engagement events. Coordinate ongoing and single in-person educational and enrichment activities to promote overall well-being, this may include events, classes, training, workshops, etc.) Conduct a community needs analysis using tools such as community mapping (e.g., ARDI Equity Map), publicly available reports, and interviews with community members. Develop and manage a Community Advisory Committee by engaging and involving community members in Service District (SD) 4 to participate in planning, implementation, and decision-making. Collaborate with community leaders to identify emerging needs and new resources to ensure equitable access to services and support. The CES will support data collection efforts by administering surveys, pre- and post-tests to measure impact and outcomes. Provide accurate and timely documentation. Effective communication verbally, through email, through texts, and phone calls. Attend all assigned meetings and other related duties/activities. Must represent the agency in a professional manner. Adaptive and multi-tasking ability. The individual must easily transition from one task to the next. Must reside in Supervisorial District (SD) 4. Must attend all necessary trainings and meetings throughout Los Angeles County. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. At least one (1) year of experience in community engagement, family support, or related work focused on strengthening family and community connections. Experience in leading, facilitating engaging and/or organizing community members, businesses, and community leaders in the implementation/adoption of a community and/or population-based effort. Competency to work with the various ethnic/cultural groups in the target area/community. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Ability to succeed independently within a fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes unpredictable work environment. Must be able/willing to travel as position requires cross collaboration partnerships, trainings, and meetings across LA County. Proficient in Microsoft program applications. Must be able/willing to travel and work from all HYC offices. Strong relationship-building/maintaining, networking skills, and great organizational skills. Shows initiative and strong motivation in completing and starting projects and enjoys the challenge of their work. Ability to reasonably adjust, accept, and make changes to directives as they occur. U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident status. Valid Class C driver’s license. Current auto insurance coverage and good driving record. Ability to pass background check and criminal clearance. PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with a community-based organization. Experience working with diverse communities. Experience with networking and program promotion. Experience/Expertise in social media, YouTube, Media Development, and Audio and Visual equipment.
