The Community Forest Land Manager collaborates with the Executive Director, the Forestry Resources/ Wildlife Habitat Committee and the Recreation Committee, other staff members, and the Board of Directors to manage the DLLT 58,220 acre community forest for conservation, economic, and recreational purposes. The Manager exhibits strong field skills and a dedication to sustainable natural resource conservation, along with a thorough understanding of the principles and best practices in land management. This position is directly supervised by the Executive Director and is supported and guided by the Board Committees. It encompasses a mix of practical hands-on tasks, office planning, and public-facing responsibilities.
The Land Manager executes day-to-day operations that include maintaining roads, assisting and supporting the Forester in forestry operations and monitoring, managing carbon projects and audits, handling forest/wildlife projects and audits, and assisting in executing DLLT’s Forest Management Plan and Wildlife Management Plan. They are also responsible for budget preparation, recreation, infrastructure, and the maintenance of trails, primitive campsites, and boat launches. Additionally, they oversee easement and project agreement monitoring, compliance, and audit activities, such as maintaining data for the Annual Monitoring Report and ensuring adherence to all laws and regulations applicable to carbon, recreation, forestry and wildlife audits.
The Manager practices the highest standards of science and data-driven management of natural resources, promotion of wildlife habitat, and recreation infrastructure. They are also a public face of the organization in the community and to statewide and national conservation groups. They must display the highest standards of professionalism, cooperation, integrity, and enthusiasm and maintain positive relationships with fellow staff, community members, contractors, and our many forestry and conservation partners.
This position is full-time and requires intermittent evening and weekend hours, along with travel.
