This position is partially funded by the Canada Summer Jobs fund. In order to be considered for this job you must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment contract;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

POSITION SUMMARY:

Hive Health Services is seeking a self-motivated and tech-savvy summer staff to lead an independent community mapping and outreach project. The successful candidate will identify and assess care providers and organizations within our catchment area who currently provide—or are open to providing—HIV-related and/or gender-affirming care. This project will directly support Hive’s mission to build inclusive, responsive care networks for 2SLGBTQIA+ and HIV-impacted communities in Guelph and surrounding regions.
This role is ideal for a student interested in community health, social justice, health promotion, or systems-level advocacy.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Strong communication skills, especially in outreach and professional email writing
  • Research and problem-solving capabilities
  • Competent with Microsoft Office Suite (training will be provided as needed)
  • Welcoming and inclusive attitude; respectful of diverse communities and lived experiences
  • Comfort working independently with virtual and in-office support
  • Experience or interest in health equity, 2SLGBTQIA+ health, HIV care, or community development is an asset

Responsibilities
  • Conduct environmental scans and community research to identify health care providers, clinics, and organizations offering HIV care or gender-affirming services
  • Develop a database and mapping tool to visualize care providers by type, services offered, location, and population served
  • Assess willingness of identified providers to partner with Hive Health Services through outreach and communication (email, phone, survey)
  • Compile findings into a final report with recommendations for future collaboration, referrals, and health system integration
  • Ensure accurate documentation, privacy considerations, and project progress tracking
  • Present key findings to Hive staff and stakeholders at the end of the placement
