PURPOSE: Reporting to the Senior Nurse/Hwialusmutul’ Program Manager, the purpose of the Community Health Nurse is to provide communicable disease control services such as immunization, disease prevention and outbreak management; family wellness care services including pre and post-partum and early childhood enhancement services, and education through community outreach on a range of youth, women’s and adult health concerns to individuals and community. This is a full-time permanent unionized position that works primarily in the office with moderate local travel required.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Cowichan Tribes offers an excellent benefit and pension plan available after successful completion of the probationary period. The position includes paid training, paid vacation and paid sick leave. Depending on experience, the position starts at $51.66 - $54.05 per hour ($94,024.16 - $98,366.39 annually).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of Cowichan culture, customs, and traditions
· Knowledge of historical trauma, systemic barriers and other social determinants that influence the health of Indigenous peoples
· Knowledge of internal and external community resources
· Knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention techniques
· Well-developed written, oral, and interpersonal skills
· Time management and organizational skills
· Able to foster and build relationships with coworkers and community members
