Description

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Are you passionate about teaching life-saving skills to adults in your community? Do you have the confidence and empathy to deliver engaging, practical First Aid courses in welcoming, inclusive environments?
We’re looking for an experienced and reliable First Aid tutor to join our dynamic Adult & Community Learning team. You will deliver short courses that help adults build confidence, gain essential knowledge, and take steps towards work, volunteering, or further learning.
This role is ideal for a qualified First Aid instructor/trainer/tutor, or similar - someone who understands how to work flexibly and sensitively with adults from a wide range of backgrounds—especially those who are overcoming personal barriers or returning to learning after a long break.
The work is on a casual basis with flexible hours across the academic year. We are unable to confirm the number of hours per week. This is paid at an hourly rate.

This is more than just a teaching job. You’ll be helping adults gain life-saving knowledge while building their self-belief and sense of achievement. You will:

  • Deliver short First Aid courses (for example, Emergency First Aid at Work and basic community First Aid) in community venues across Bristol
  • Tailor lessons to meet learner needs, using accessible, trauma-informed approaches
  • Embed inclusive practice, digital tools and good safeguarding awareness into your teaching
  • Promote progression—supporting learners to take further steps in learning, volunteering or employment
  • Set clear expectations, model practical skills, and create a safe space for learners to ask questions and practice
  • Work closely with development workers, support staff and partner organisation
