Reports To: Community Relations Manager / Project Manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Matric or equivalent qualification (Diploma or Degree in Social Sciences, Public Relations, Community Development, or related field preferred).
  • Proven experience in community liaison, public relations, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Understanding of local cultural, social, and economic dynamics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in English and local languages spoken in Vrede.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office suite).

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

To serve as the primary link between the company/project and the local community in Vrede, ensuring effective communication, fostering positive relationships, and addressing community concerns related to company operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the main point of contact between the company and the Vrede community.
  • Facilitate community engagement activities, including meetings, forums, and consultations.
  • Communicate company plans, progress, and impacts to community members clearly and timely.
  • Identify and address community concerns and grievances in a professional and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with local leaders, government officials, and stakeholders to build trust and cooperation.
  • Monitor social impacts of company operations and report feedback to management.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of community development projects.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on community engagement activities and issues.
  • Support compliance with social and environmental regulations relating to community relations.
  • Promote corporate social responsibility initiatives benefiting the Vrede community.
  • Ensure all community liaison activities align with company policies and legal requirements.
